Dad’s Killer Beergaritas Recipe

Yields: About 4-6 servings

  • Beer: 12 ounces of light Mexican beer (Corona, Tecate, Modelo, etc.)
  • Tequila: 6 ounces silver tequila (or reposado for a richer flavor)
  • Fresh Lime Juice: 4 ounces (juice from about 4 medium limes)
  • Orange Liqueur: 1 ounce (Cointreau or Triple Sec )
  • Agave Nectar (or Simple Syrup): 1 ounce, or to taste
  • Ice
  • Coarse Salt for rimming glasses (optional)


  • Cocktail shaker
  • Citrus juicer
  • Measuring jigger (or small measuring cups)
  • Margarita or pint glasses


1. Salt the rims (optional): Run a lime wedge around the rims of your glasses and dip them in coarse salt.

2. Combine: In a cocktail shaker, combine the beer, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave nectar.

3. Shake it up: Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well-chilled.

4. Pour & Enjoy: Strain the mixture into your prepared glasses over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge if desired.
