Dr Pepper Cherry Dump Cake Recipe

Yields: 8-10 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 45-55 minutes

  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 (12 ounce) can Dr Pepper Cherry
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Layer the Ingredients:

  • Spread the cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry pie filling.
  • Slowly and carefully pour the Dr Pepper Cherry over the cake mix, trying to cover as much of the dry mix as possible.
  • Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  • Test the center with a toothpick – it should come out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Serve:

  • Let the cake cool for 10-15 minutes before serving. This allows it to set up a bit.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.

  • Cake Mix: You can substitute white cake mix for the yellow cake mix if preferred. For an extra chocolatey twist, try a chocolate cake mix.
  • Spice It Up: Add a pinch of cinnamon to the dry cake mix for a touch of warm spice.
  • Experiment: Feel free to try this recipe with other Dr. Pepper flavors or different pie fillings!
