Easy Chocolate Brownie Cake Recipe

This recipe combines the rich, fudgy goodness of brownies with the fluffy texture of cake, resulting in a decadent and crowd-pleasing dessert. It’s also super simple to make, requiring minimal effort for a delicious outcome.

Cake Batter:

  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 box (18.3 ounces) fudge brownie mix
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cups water, at room temperature
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) vegetable oil
  • Optional Frosting (can be served warm or at room temperature):
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Pan:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Lightly grease a 10-inch Bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the chocolate cake mix and the fudge brownie mix.

Add Wet Ingredients:

  • Add the room temperature eggs, water, and vegetable oil to the dry mix.
  • Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the mixture for 2 minutes, or until most of the lumps are gone.
  • Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure even mixing.

Bake the Cake:

  • Pour the batter into your prepared Bundt pan.
  • Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.

Cool the Cake:

  • Take the cake out of the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  • Afterward, carefully invert the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely for about 30 more minutes.

Prepare the Frosting (Optional):

  • In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Sift in the unsweetened cocoa powder and mix until incorporated.
  • Pour in the milk and vanilla extract and beat until you reach a smooth and spreadable consistency. You can adjust the amount of milk depending on how thick you want your frosting.

Frost the Cake (Optional):

  • Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting over the top and sides.

Serve and Enjoy!

  • Slice and serve your delicious chocolate brownie cake.
  • You can enjoy it warm with the frosting slightly melted, or at room temperature.

  • For an extra decadent touch, you can sprinkle some chopped nuts or chocolate chips over the batter before baking.
  • If you don’t have a Bundt pan, you can also use a 9×13 inch baking pan. The baking time might need slight adjustments, so start checking the cake for doneness at around 30 minutes.
  • This cake is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored at room temperature under an airtight container for up to 3 days.
