Lemon Drop Shot Recipe

  • Vodka (chilled): 1 ounce per shot. For a smoother taste, opt for a good quality vodka.
  • Fresh Lemon Juice: 1/2 ounce per shot. Freshly squeezed is always best!
  • Simple Syrup: 1/2 ounce per shot (recipe below)
  • Sugar: For rimming the glasses
  • Lemon Wedges: For garnish

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Jigger or measuring spoons
  • Shot glasses
  • Small plate

Prepare the Glasses:

  • Cut a small notch in a lemon wedge and slide it onto the rim of each shot glass.
  • Pour some sugar onto a small plate.
  • Lightly moisten the rim of each glass with a bit of lemon juice and dip it into the sugar to create a rim.

Make the Simple Syrup (if needed):

  • Combine equal parts granulated sugar and water in a saucepan.
  • Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves.
  • Let cool completely before using.

Mix the Shots:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • For each shot, add 1 ounce chilled vodka, ½ ounce fresh lemon juice, and ½ ounce simple syrup to the shaker.
  • Shake vigorously for at least 10-15 seconds, until the mixture is well-chilled.

  • Strain the mixture into the prepared shot glasses.
  • Garnish each glass with a sugared lemon wedge.

How to Enjoy Your Lemon Drop Shot:

  • Take the shot in one go.
  • Immediately follow it by sucking on the sugared lemon wedge to balance the sweetness and tartness.

  • Chill your ingredients beforehand for a refreshingly cold shot.
  • Adjust the sweetness level by using more or less simple syrup.
  • For an extra citrusy kick, try using flavored vodka like Absolut Citron.
  • Experiment with rimming your glasses with flavored sugars for a fun twist!
