Pizza Fries Recipe

  • 1 large bag (about 32 ounces) frozen French fries (choose your favorite cut: crinkle, steak, waffle) or 2-3 large russet potatoes for homemade fries

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, or use your favorite melty cheese)

  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup sliced green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • Other ideas: mushrooms, onions, cooked sausage, etc.

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Make the fries:

  • If using frozen fries: Preheat oven according to the package directions. Spread fries on a baking sheet and bake until crispy.
  • If making homemade: Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut into your desired fry shape. Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain, pat dry, and fry in batches in hot oil (350-375°F) until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

Assemble the pizza fries:

  • If using an oven-safe skillet, arrange your cooked fries in it. Otherwise, transfer cooked fries to a baking sheet or baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, mix the oregano and garlic powder into the pizza sauce.
  • Drizzle the sauce evenly over the fries.
  • Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese (and cheddar, if using).
  • Top with pepperoni, bell pepper, olives, and any other desired toppings.

Melt and finish:

  • Bake in the preheated oven (400°F) for 8-10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • If desired, broil for the last 1-2 minutes to brown the cheese slightly.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Get creative with your toppings! Cooked sausage, bacon, ham, pineapple, jalapenos – the possibilities are endless.
  • Spice things up: Use a spicy pizza sauce or sprinkle some red pepper flakes over the top.
  • Homemade sauce: If you have time, make a quick and tasty homemade marinara sauce to elevate the flavor.
  • Serve hot: Pizza fries are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven for optimal crispness and cheesy goodness.
