Sangria Slushie Recipe

Wine Base:

  • 1 (750 ml) bottle dry red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, or a Spanish Rioja work well)

Sweeteners and Flavor Enhancers:

  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed is best)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey (adjust to taste)

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • 1 lemon or lime, sliced into rounds
  • Ice (optional): Around 1-2 cups, if needed for desired consistency

  • Large pitcher
  • Ice cube trays
  • Blender

1. Make the Red Wine Ice Cubes:

  • Pour the bottle of red wine into ice cube trays.
  • Freeze overnight or until completely solid.

2. Prep the Fruit:

  • Wash and slice the orange, lemon/lime into rounds.

3. Assemble the Slushie:

  • In a blender, combine the frozen red wine cubes, orange liqueur, brandy, orange juice, sugar/honey, and frozen mixed berries.
  • Blend on high speed until you have a smooth, slushy consistency.
  • If the mixture is too thick, add some ice cubes and blend again.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.

4. Serve:

  • Pour the sangria slushies into glasses.
  • Garnish each glass with orange and lemon or lime slices.
  • Enjoy immediately!

  • Customize your fruit: Add other summer fruits like sliced peaches, nectarines, or chopped apples to your liking.
  • Make ahead: The red wine cubes can be frozen well in advance.
  • Large batch: Easily double or triple the recipe for a crowd.
  • Traditional Sangria: If you prefer, let some of the wine ice cubes melt in the pitcher with sliced fruit for a few hours to make a more classic sangria before blending portions into slushies.
