Simple Baked Chicken Breasts Recipe

Yields: 4 servings
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20-25 minutes

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (trimmed of excess fat)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

2. Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick and the chicken brown better.

3. Season: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Drizzle the mixture over both sides of the chicken breasts, rubbing to evenly coat them.

4. Bake: Place the chicken breasts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) on a meat thermometer.

5. Rest: For optimal juiciness, allow the chicken breasts to rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Pounding: For even cooking, pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness before seasoning.

Marinating (Optional): If you have time, marinate the chicken in your favorite marinade for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight for extra flavor.

Variations: Experiment with different seasonings and herbs to suit your preference. You can try lemon pepper, Cajun seasoning, or any blend that fits your tastes.
